Guide
Most SSF sites go unarmed. Here’s when armed makes sense.
Don’t start with armed or unarmed. Start with what’s at stake. A lab lobby needs someone approachable. A warehouse full of electronics that’s been hit twice might need more.
Most of our SSF posts are unarmed: campuses, offices, hotels, apartments, clinics. People need to be comfortable walking up to the officer, and a sharp, visible guard deters most trouble on their own.
High-value inventory, equipment yards, cash handled late, isolated sites, repeat targets. An armed officer changes the calculation for anyone thinking about coming back.
Same daily duties: gate, rounds, check-ins, reports.
Common in SSF: unarmed on day shift, armed overnight at the gate. Or armed for a few weeks after an incident, then back to unarmed. Month to month makes that easy.
Tell us at the walkthrough what’s on site and what’s happened. We’ll put an honest recommendation in the proposal and won’t sell armed where it isn’t needed.
